I read Brian Reade in the Daily Mirror today, and i have to say its shocking ,it seems like he reads minds ,maybe he should be a fortune teller,
He write ---(There was an arrogance about Alex Ferguson in Basel which was, even for him, unusually pronounced.
"It is another big game. But we have a strong squad and that squad will see us through without question," was his emphatic dismissal of a side which had previously drawn at Old Trafford.
Without question. A withering put-down which implied he does not get knocked out of Europe by Alpine pub teams. The comments, no doubt intended to boost his players' confidence, were picked up by his Swiss opponents and the pep-talk had been delivered. To the wrong dressing-room---)
The last part Reade decides Ferguson implied Basle was an Alpine pub team.yet i cant see anywhere Ferguson mentions Basle are an Alpine pub team ,Reade claims Fergusons comments inspired Basle ,excuse me while i laugh,Basle were playing for a place in the last 16 of the Champions League they didnt need anything to pep them up .
He claims Ferguson gave Basle a withering put down,I think most people believed Manchester United would go through ,thats why it was a shock that they were out ,thats why they were odds on with the bookmakers ,and he did say it was a big game which i think would imply a tough game ,and whether you are a manager or a player if you dont have confidence in your own ability you are beat before you start, confidence is not always arrogance,
I think Brian Reade should just write what people say not what he thinks they said ,or he might find himself in court, and there is no point asking a manager or anyone a question if you are going to write what he didnt say.
Later in his attack on United Reade claims United had an easy game against Crystal Palace ,had the easiest Champions League group of all the big teams in Europe ,so i ask Brian Reade why shouldnt Ferguson have been confident of going through?
In another story he says Man City have nothing to fear but fear itself ,sound's like he is reading the stars maybe he wants to take David Wells job ,
